Every buyer asks the same first question: how much does fiber optic cable cost per meter? There is no single answer, because a fiber optic cable price is the sum of four cost blocks — the optical fiber itself, the structural materials, the jacket compound, and the manufacturing yield. This guide breaks each block down so you can sanity-check any quotation you receive.
The table below shows indicative FOB China ranges for standard single mode (G.652D) constructions. Actual pricing depends on core count, sheath material, drum length and order quantity.
| Cable type and application | Typical cores | Indicative FOB price |
|---|---|---|
| FTTH drop cable (GJXH, GJYXCH) | 1–4 | US$0.03–0.12 / m |
| Indoor distribution / breakout (GJFJH) | 4–24 | US$0.15–0.60 / m |
| Outdoor duct cable, non-armoured (GYFXTY, GYFTY) | 12–96 | US$0.40–1.80 / m |
| Outdoor armoured duct cable (GYTA, GYTS) | 12–288 | US$0.55–3.20 / m |
| Direct buried cable (GYTA53, GYTY53) | 24–144 | US$0.90–3.80 / m |
| ADSS aerial cable | 12–144 | US$0.80–3.50 / m |
A 4-core drop cable costs more per core than a 48-core duct cable. The sheath, strength members and processing time are largely fixed per meter regardless of core count, so unit cost per core falls sharply as the cable grows. If you are planning a network, buying a single higher-count cable is almost always cheaper per subscriber than several low-count cables.
A quotation that only lists a unit price is incomplete. Huifiber quotes always state drum length, packing method, testing scope and validity period, so total landed cost can be calculated before you commit.
Send these five items and you will receive a precise quotation instead of a range:

Indicative FOB China ranges for G.652D single mode: FTTH drop cable US$0.03 to 0.12 per m; indoor distribution US$0.15 to 0.60 per m; non-armoured duct cable US$0.40 to 1.80 per m; armoured duct cable US$0.55 to 3.20 per m; direct buried US$0.90 to 3.80 per m; ADSS US$0.80 to 3.50 per m.
Optical fibre cost follows the global preform market, which moves quickly. Because the fibre is the largest single block of cable cost, quotations from any manufacturer are normally held for 30 days rather than for the length of a project.
Yes. LSZH and other halogen-free compounds typically add 20 to 40 percent over standard PE or PVC jackets, because the flame-retardant fillers cost more and reduce extrusion line speed. The premium is quoted separately for indoor and riser cable.
