OEM and ODM Fiber Optic Cable: Process, MOQ and Lead Time

OEM vs ODM: What You Can Change

OEM at Huifiber means we build to your drawings and your brand: logo print on the sheath, your drum marks, your packaging and your exact structure. ODM starts earlier — from a specification sheet or even just an application description, our engineers propose the cable design and then take it through the same controlled production process.

Both routes run on the same production lines as our standard catalog, so the quality system and test reports are identical for custom and standard product.

The Process from Inquiry to Delivery

StepWhat happensTypical time
1. InquiryYou send the cable type, fiber count, span or application—
2. Specification and quotationWe confirm structure, print, drum length and Incoterm, then quoteWithin 24 hours
3. Sample approvalSample produced and tested for your approval3–5 days
4. Mass productionExtrusion, stranding, sheathing and 100% optical testing10–20 days
5. QC and shippingFinal inspection, drum packing, documents, booking3–5 days

For standard orders the total lead time is approximately 3–5 weeks from order confirmation to shipment. Trial quantities for new partnerships can often be pulled forward — tell us your project date and we will plan backwards from it.

Minimum Order Quantities

Product typeTypical MOQ
Standard fiber optic patch cords100 pieces
Custom cable assemblies500–1,000 meters
FTTH drop / indoor / outdoor cable with OEM printDepends on structure and drum length — confirm with sales

MOQ is flexible for first orders and market-testing quantities. State the target quantity in your inquiry and the answer will include what is feasible rather than a flat refusal.

Samples and Sample Fees

  • Standard product samples are available for evaluation; the client covers shipping cost.

  • OEM/ODM samples that need new tooling or design work carry a sample fee, quoted before production starts.

  • Sample preparation time is typically 5–7 business days.

Quick Answers

Can you print our logo and part number on the sheath? Yes — ink-jet printing on FTTH drop, indoor and outdoor cables is part of every OEM build; include the print text in your drawing.

Do you sign NDAs for custom designs? Yes. Send the specification under NDA before releasing drawings.

What documents ship with an OEM order? Drum test reports (attenuation and geometry), a material certificate on request, packing list and commercial invoice — the same set as for standard product.
