Huifiber provides high-performance PLC Splitters, including Bare Fiber, Steel Tube, ABS Box, Cassette, and Rack Mount types (1x2 to 1x64).
A planar lightwave circuit (PLC) splitter divides one optical input into multiple outputs with a fixed, uniform split ratio — most commonly 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16, 1:32 and 1:64. Because it is built on a silica waveguide chip rather than by fusing fibres together, it delivers a stable split ratio across a wide wavelength range and a much tighter uniformity between output ports than a fused biconic taper coupler.
The theoretical split loss is 10·log10(n) dB, so a 1:8 splitter loses 9.03 dB and a 1:32 loses 15.05 dB before any excess loss. In practice add the splitter's own excess loss and uniformity, plus connector and splice losses. A typical GPON budget allows a 1:32 split ratio up to about 20 km from the OLT.
Practical guidance: use 1:8 or 1:16 for dense urban FTTH where subscribers are close to the OLT; use 1:32 or 1:64 in rural areas with long feeder spans and lower take rates. Cascading two 1:8 splitters gives 1:64 with better budget control than a single 1:64.
Every splitter we ship is tested for insertion loss on every port, uniformity across the output set, return loss, and with a visual inspection of the endface. Test data is supplied per unit. Standard parts meet Telcordia GR-1209 and GR-1221 requirements and are available with IEC 61300 test reports.
Huifiber manufactures PLC splitters from 1:2 to 1:64 in ABS box, cassette, bare tube, mini module and rack mount formats, with SC, LC, FC and ST connectors, UPC or APC polish, and 0.9 mm, 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm pigtail cable. Tell us the split ratio, package type and connector and we will quote the right part.
PLC splitters divide one optical signal among many subscribers without electronics, and planar waveguide technology keeps the split ratio stable across the whole wavelength band.
PLC splitters use planar lightwave circuitry, so they hold a uniform split ratio across a wide wavelength range and stay stable over temperature, which is why they are standard in FTTH. FBT splitters are fused from fibers, which makes 1x2 and 1x4 cheaper but wavelength sensitive and harder to manufacture at higher port counts.
We produce 1x2, 1x4, 1x8, 1x16, 1x32 and 1x64 PLC splitters, and 2xN variants including 2x2 through 2x64.
Bare fiber, stainless steel tube, ABS box, LGX module and 19-inch rack-mount versions are all available, so the splitter can be dropped into an ODF, a closure or a street cabinet.
Typical values are around 3.8 dB for 1x2, 7.2 dB for 1x4, 10.5 dB for 1x8, 13.8 dB for 1x16, 17.0 dB for 1x32 and 20.5 dB for 1x64. The guaranteed maximum for your order is stated on the test report.
SC and LC connectors in either UPC or APC polish, with the choice normally driven by the splitter port density in your cabinet.
