Breakout / Distribution Cable

Breakout and Distribution Cable from Huifiber

Huifiber builds indoor breakout and distribution cable in its Dongguan factory for patch cords, pigtails, LAN horizontal and riser cabling, and equipment interconnects. Both families start from 600 or 900 micron tight-buffered fiber protected by aramid yarn strength members in an all-dielectric construction, so they are immune to electromagnetic interference and easy to strip, handle and terminate.

Choose breakout cable when each fiber needs its own 2 to 3 mm jacketed sub-unit and terminates directly onto a connector. Choose distribution cable — such as the GJFJH series — for high-density trunks where the 900 micron fibers are spliced or terminated through fan-out kits. Fiber options cover single-mode and 50/125 multimode OM3/OM4 for gigabit and 10G links, and the GJSFJV variant wraps the tight-buffered fiber in flat stainless steel wire armor for extra mechanical protection.

  • Structures: GJFJH breakout and distribution cable, GJSFJV indoor armored cable
  • Fiber counts: breakout from 2 fibers upward, distribution up to 144 fibers
  • Jackets: flame-retardant PVC, LSZH, OFNR riser and OFNP plenum, with interlocking armour as an option
  • Typical uses: patch cords and pigtails, indoor horizontal and vertical riser cabling, LAN backbones, transceiver interconnects

Frequently Asked Questions

Breakout and distribution cables bring high fiber counts indoors. They solve the same problem with different levels of ruggedness and different termination methods.

What is the difference between breakout and distribution cable?

Distribution cable packs 900 micron tight-buffered fibers inside one common jacket and is terminated through a fan-out kit, which keeps it small and economical. Breakout cable gives every fiber its own 2 to 3 mm jacket inside the outer sheath, so each fiber can be connectorised directly without a fan-out.

Which one should I use in a data centre?

Choose breakout cable when fibers will be terminated directly onto connectors and the route needs mechanical protection. Choose distribution cable for high-density trunking where fibers are spliced or terminated through MPO fan-outs.

What fiber counts are available?

Breakout cable is normally supplied from 2 to 24 fibers, while distribution cable is available up to 144 fibers depending on the construction.

Which fire ratings and jackets do you offer?

LSZH, OFNR riser and OFNP plenum jackets are all available, with interlocking armour as an option where the cable runs through exposed areas.
