GYTA and GYTS are the two workhorse loose-tube outdoor cables for duct and aerial routes. The difference is the metallic moisture barrier inside the jacket.
GYTA uses a corrugated aluminium tape (APL) moisture barrier, which makes it lighter and well suited to duct installation. GYTS uses a corrugated steel tape (PSP) that adds mechanical and rodent protection at the cost of some extra weight.
With standard G652D fiber the attenuation is typically no more than 0.36 dB/km at 1310 nm and 0.22 dB/km at 1550 nm. The exact figure for your order is stated on the test report supplied with each drum.
GYTA is normally the better fit for duct routes because it is lighter and easier to pull. Choose GYTS when there is a meaningful rodent risk or where additional crush resistance is needed.
Yes. GYTA53 and GYTS53 add a double armour layer and are intended for direct burial where the cable must resist soil pressure and rodent attack without a duct.
Both constructions are produced in fiber counts from 2 up to 288 cores, using G652D or G657 single mode fiber in gel-filled or dry water-blocked loose tubes.
