Fiber Optic Patch Cords

Frequently Asked Questions

Patch cords are the most-touched part of any fiber network, so connector quality and polish decide whether insertion loss stays inside budget.

What connector types do you offer for patch cords?

SC, LC, FC, ST and MU connectors in UPC and APC polish, plus MPO/MTP multi-fiber assemblies. Hybrid cords with a different connector on each end are available.

What is the insertion loss of your patch cords?

Standard UPC assemblies are typically within 0.3 dB and low-loss assemblies within 0.2 dB, while MPO assemblies are typically within 0.35 dB. Every cord is tested and the measured value is recorded against your order specification.

How many fibers does an MPO trunk cable support?

MPO assemblies are built in 8, 12, 16 and 24-fiber ferrule counts, and trunk cables using these can be supplied up to 144 fibers.

How do I specify the polarity of an MPO system?

MPO polarity is defined as Type A, B or C, which determines how the fibers map between the two ends. Tell us the polarity used in your patch panels and cassettes and we will match it.

Which jacket materials and sizes are available?

LSZH, riser and plenum rated jackets in 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm sizes, with 0.9 mm buffered tails available for pigtails.
